Acid rain is rain that highly acidic because of sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides, and other air pollutants dissolved in it.Normal rain is slightly acidic, with pH of 6.Acid rain may have a pH value as low as 2.8
Acid rain can severely damage both plant and animal life.Certain lakes, for example, have lost all fish and plant life because of acid rain.
Acid rain comes from sulphur in coal and oil. When they burn, they make sulphur dioxide(SO2).Most sulphur leaves factory chimneys as the gaseous sulphur dioxide(SO2) and most nitrogen is also emitted as one of the nitrogen oxides (NO or NO2),both of which are gases. The gases may be dry deposited-absorbed directly by the land, by lakes or by the surface vegetation. If they are in the atmosphere for anytime, the gases will oxidise (gain an oxygen atom) and the nitrogen oxides will become nitric acid(HNO3). The acids usually dissolve in cloud droplets and may travel great distances before being precipitated as acid rain.Catalysts such as hydrogen peroxide, ozone and ammonium help promote the formation of acids in clouds.More ammonium(NH4) can be formed when some of the acids are partially neutralized by airborne ammonia(NH3).Acidication increases with the number of active hydrogen(H+)ions dissolved in acid..Hydrocarbons emitted by for example, car exhausts will react in sunlight with nitrogen oxides to produce ozone.Although it is invaluable in the atmosphere, low level ozone causes respiratory problems and also hastens the formation of acid rain. When acid rain falls on the ground it dissolves and liberates heavy metals and almunium(Al). When it is washet into lakes, aluminium irritates the outher surfaces of many fish.As acid rain falls or drains into the lake the pH of the lake falls.Forests suffer the effect of acid rain through damage to leaves, through the loss of vital liberated by acid, which damage roots and soil micro organisms.

The movie,”Habibie & Ainun”,talked more about the relationship of Habibie and his wife,Hasri Ainun Habibie, since they first met.

The Pros and Cons of Youth’s Internet Usage
Twitter as well as the shared videos of Youtube is well known, but a Tel Aviv University researcher claims that these resources can actually promote psychological development. Prof.Moshe Israelashvili of TAU’s Jaime and Joan Constantiner School of Education, with his master’s degree student Taejin Kim and colleague Dr.Gabriel Bukobza, studied 278 teenage girls and boys from schools troughout the country. They found that many teens were using the internet as a tool for exploring questions of personal identity, successfully building their own future lives using what they discover on the web.
The study, published in the Journal of Adolescence, encourages parents and educators to look at engagement with the online world as beneficial for teens. Social networking, Israelashvili says, is a positive example of internet use: “Facebook use is not in the same category as gambling or gaming,” he insists, and as a result researchers should redefine the characteristics of the disorder called “ Internet addiction” in adolescents.
The teens were asked to rate themselves in terms of internet use, ego clarification and self-understanding and how well they related to their peer groups. The researchers discovered there was a negative correlation between internet overuse and the teen’s levels of ego development and clarity of self-perception. This he said is an indication that some internet use is destructive and isolating while some is informative and serves a socializing function.
There are two different kinds of teenage Web addicts, he continued. The first group is composed of adolescents who really are addicted, misusing the internet with things like online gaming and gambling or pornographic websites, isolating themselves from the world around them. The second can be defined as “self-clarification seekers” whose use of the Internet helps them comprehensively define their own identities and place in the world. They tend to use the Internet for social networking and information gathering, such as on news sites or Twitter.
Parents and educators should change the conversations they have with teens about Internet use, the researchers urge. The web is a big part of our modern  lifestyle, and both adults and children are spending more time there. As a result, what is important is how that time is used.
34.  One bad side effect of using internet unproperly by the teen is …

A flood is an overflow of water that submerges or “drowns” land. The European Union (EU) Floods Directive defines a flood as a covering by water of land not normally covered by water. In the sense of “flowing water”, the word may also be applied to the inflow of the tide. Flooding may result from the volume of water within a body of water, such as a river or lake, which overflows or breaks levels, with  the result that some of water escapes usual boundaries, or may be due to accumulation of rainwater on saturated ground in an areal flood.
While the size of a lake or other body of water will vary with seasonal changes in precipitation and snow melt, it is not a significant flood unless such escapes of water endanger land areas used by man like a village, city or other inhabited area.
Floods can also occur in rivers, when flow exceeds the capacity of the river channel, particularly at bends or meanders. Floods often cause damage to homes and business if they are placed in natural flood plains of rivers. While flood damage can be virtually eliminated by moving away from rivers and other bodies of water, since time out of mind, people have lived and worked by the water to seek sustenance and capitalize on the gains of cheap and easy travel and commerce by being near water. That humans continue to inhabit areas threatened by flood damage is evidence that the perceived value of living near the water exceeds the cost of repeated periodic flooding.
Some floods develop slowly, while others such as flash floods, can develop in just a few minutes and without visible signs of rain. Additionally, floods can be local, impacting a neighbourhood or community, or very large, affecting entir river basins.

HOUSE HUSBAND’s HEART RISK
Most people assume that life in the rat race is bad for your health. But reversing the traditional gender roles, being a house husband is a stressful business, according to the latest research by American scientist. By giving up their jobs in order to become house husbands, men increase their risk of heart attack or coronary disease by as much as 82%, according to research based on 10 year study of 2500 people in Boston, USA.
According to Dr. Elanie Eaker, the key to the problem is that some men became stressed about performing a role not traditionally assigm to them by society. Men who stay at home tend not to have the same levels of support from friends and family as women do the same.
Jack O’Sullivan, of the Father’s Direct, was quoted as saying: “Society expects the main career should be a woman and society is structured around that. Day care is called mother and toddler groups and some men feel amkward about belonging to those groups.
Professor Gary Cooper, a psychologist at the University of Manchester, said many men tend to underestimate the task of caring for a family. He said “ Most men think being a house husband involves putting on a bit of washing, taking the kids to school and then putting their feet up with a cup of coffee.
They are crazy. Most men are not used to performing a variety of activities simultaneously-the kind of multi-tasking which is second nature to most women.
it is estimated that men have taken over the main homemaker’s role in one in seven homes, as increasing numbers of women become the main breadwinner. The study also found that women in high-powered jobs were more likely to develop heart disease than those in more junior positions.
